Cue that famous trumpet fanfare……
For those of you who loved Lego Star Wars and love Indiana Jones (the first three movies) here’s the next big game of the summer…..
Honestly, I love it. I loved the lego star wars games, so naturally I went out and bought this one as soon as it cane out. Seriously, I think I was the first guy to buy this game.
Plot synopsis: did you see the movies? It follows the movies as close as it can, adding some things so some levels are long enough. It does change a few things to achieve a rating of “everyone 10 and up”.
Kinda spoiler-ish!!!
They had to alter Temple of Doom slightly, to take out a few things. One, you do not see the poor Indian kids getting whipped and all chained up. Two, they took out a lot of the black magic (Indy forced to drink the Blood of the Kali and the Voodoo doll) but did find creative ways around it that did not change the actual storyline. Finally, three, they replaced all very bloody deaths (big Nazi and propeller and big Thuggi and rock crusher) with similar, yet funny lego deaths.
As far as the characters go they have all your favorites, Short Round, Sala, Brodie, and just about everyone else you can think of. They all have their own abilities like Indy’s whip, Shorty can crawl through tiny places, and Willi (the girl from Temple of Doom) has a scream that can shatter glass.
The really interesting thing that they did is they incorporated the characters phobias into the game. If there are snakes Indy can’t get too close to them or he freezes up and starts backing away, the same goes for Willi and bugs. What you have to do at these parts is switch to on of the other characters that are with you and get rid of the snakes, or whatever, so you all can get past. It’s a little annoying at times, but really adds to the whole Indy experience.
There is also a create a character mode, as well as secret characters to find and unlock. I’m not going to tell you who or where (maybe if you really want to know. Email me @ chris@sparkboxshow.com).
If I haven’t convinced you that you need this game, I’m going to leave you with one final thought: LEGO SEAN CONNERY!!!
