New Disturbed Album Released! But how does it stack up to the first 3?
FInally after 3 years we are treated to another album from Disturbed entitled “Indestructible”. But was it worth the wait? Was it the amazing assault on the ears that everyone was hoping for? Or was it a valiant attempt that came up short…
I woke up this morning and immediatly downloaded Disturbed’s new album Indestructible. I was ready for the ear thrashing metal that all the hype said I was going to receive. But what I got were 2 songs that kept me interested and 10 that tried but failed. Im not saying the album was a total waste. It’s just I was hoping for more. Why is that you ask?
First off this album was produced by the band. So in hearing that, I got my hopes up that the band would be free to rock out as hard as they could without a producer telling them no. Though to me this became more of a problem because there was no big shot producer in the recording room to tell them that maybe they should alternate the guitar sounds a bit ( i swear the guitars in 3 different songs are the same, just sped up and slowed down a bit) and not go so much towards the thrash sound that some of the album was headed for. The first half of the album was worth the money though. “The Night” and “Inside the Fire” alone made me happy I picked it up.
There were two key things missing with this album. #1 a memorable song that when you hear it, you cant get enough. Yes “The Night” and “Inside the Fire” were great, but they werent up to the standards of “Deify” or “Son of a Plunder” from 10,000 Fists. And second, where the hell is my awesome cover song that all the other albums were famous for??? I listened to this album hoping all of a sudden my ears would be treated to a sweet cover. And then it was over and the first song was on again. That ticked me off to no end. Nothing got me pumped more then hearing “Land of Confusion” on 10,000 Fists. Damn you Disturbed!
Overall the album is a 3 out of 5 star piece of work. If the second half was more like the first, I would have given it a 4/5 star. Or maybe if I would have gotten my friggin cover song I hoped for!!! If i had to put it up against the other 3. Id say its better then the first album (that one seemed a bit empty for some reason, but it still rocked), but not as good as believe or 10k Fists.
