This Weekends Winners Are…

The Love Guru bombs… And so does everything else…

It was a dissapointing weekend for the movie industry, but nothing amazing really came out anyway. So lets take a look at what topped the box office this weekend.

Get Smart debuted #1 at the box office this weekend, earning $39.1 million. The film had the highest per theater average of any in the top ten with $10,011. The film cost $80 million to make, meaning it will need to gross about $100 million to turn a profit in theaters.

Kung Fu Panda held on to the #2 spot in its third weekend, earning $21.7 million to raise its total gross to $155.5 million. The film cost $130 million to make, which shows that even an animated Panda can make more then Mike Myers.

The Incredible Hulk fell two spots to #3 in its second weekend, earning $21.5 million to bump its total gross to $96.4 million. The film cost $150 million to make. Yes its a dissapointing second week, but I have no doubt that The Hulk will turn a profit. Its a great movie, just no one wants to give it the chance it deserves.

The Love Guru debuted at #4 with a disappointing $14 million. The film cost $62 million to make. HA! Hopefully this will make Myers realize that his days as Wayne arent going to help him anymore.

The Happening fell two spots to #5 in its second weekend, earning $10 million to raise its total gross to $50.2 million. The film cost $60 million to make.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull fell one spot to #6 in its fifth weekend, earning $8.4 million to raise its total gross to $290.8 million. The film has been a huge hit, well surpassing its $185 million budget. It still trails Iron man though.

You Don’t Mess With Zohan fell three spots to #7 in its third weekend, earning $7.2 million to increase its total gross to $84 million. The film cost $90 million to make.

Sex and the City fell two spots to #8 with $6.4 million, increasing its total gross to $132.3 million in four weeks. The film is an official hit, easily doubling the $65 million it cost to make.

Iron Man fell two spots to #9 in its eighth weekend, earning $4 million to pump its massive total up to $304.7 million. The film has more than doubled its $140 million budget.

The Strangers fell two spots to #10 in its forth weekend, earning $1.9 million to raise its total gross to $49.5 million. The film only cost $9 million to make.

Very Very weak box office grosses this weekend. But with Wall-E comming out this weekend, be on the look out for it to be a monster! Pixar seems to deliver 90% of the time. Anywho, hopefully I will have more to report next Monday. Have a great week.
