Smackdown vs Raw 2009, just a new number?

At first glance you may wonder, “how is this different from ’08 except the roster?” so did I. To find your answers read on……….
Ok, Ok, I’ll get the obvious stuff out of the way first. Yes the roster is obviously updated with the current WWE superstars. Yes the ones who left still have their entrances and moves available (except Benoit, for obvious reasons). Yes the graphics have been improved and it’s less buggy and glitchy.
Now that that’s out of the way on to more meatier parts of the review. Currently you have every superstar that was on the roster around November of ’08. The good thing they have going on this time is they are promising more downloadable content this time. Granted they had pretty much none last time so any is an improvement. They did however set it up that they can put up and coming new superstars up for download. There are some wrestlers that weren’t overly popular end of last year but are doing well now and may be added. Who knows?
Career mode is pretty much 24/7 mode from ’08, with the difference being there’s no actual storyline. you pick a title to go for, do your qualifying matches, and earn your titles. this is of course the only way to raise your created character’s stats to a respectable level and gain certain abilities.
Road to Wrestlemania has much more of a story to follow, 6 actually. You play through the few months before the Royal Rumble through Wrestlemania as either Triple H, CM Punk, Undertaker, Cena, Jericho, and the team of Mysterio and Batista (this one being the only co-op story mode). Each one has its own plot and bonus objectives (which unlock all the locked content) which are fairly easy, except for the few that make you want to give your 360 a standing drop kick.
The ceate a character mode is as in depth as ever, but paired with the new create a finisher it’s gone up a notch. I’m finally glad to see that my character can give someone a “knee-to-the-samoan drop-tombstone piledriver” yeah, it’s as cool as it sounds.
All in all they gave the game a really good overhaul from the last version. I haven’t had this much fun playing a WWE game since Raw2 on the old-school Xbox

haha well I’m not a really a “WW” person in the least, but for a moment there I thought that was Christian Bale in the background. lol Now THAT would be interesting!
Sounds pretty good. Maybe when I finish Fallout I will pick it up. The only thing I wish any new WWE game had was the career mode from WWE Raw 2. If you put that mode in this game, Im sure you would never stop playing.
thank you JungleTrek, I now have to go make Cristian Bale in the game just cause it sounds so cool!!!
It is a great game. They are giving the creating ability to the gamers. The create your own finisher is a little off but you have to work hard to get it right. The graphics are great ( although I am using a PS2). Camera angles change when you exit the ring but WWE was thinking about the gamer and making it more life-like. I wish they would have just used a story line. Just for fun just make up your own.
