Old school publisher 3D Realms closes down for good.
You read that title correctly, the old school publishers of the Duke Nukem series has closed its doors for good…
Sadly with the economy as horrid as it is, 3D Realms was forced to close its doors because of funding issues. This also is a heavy blow to everyone out there who was waiting the release of the latest Duke Nukem game, Duke Nukem Forever which has been in development pretty much forever. While Take-Two entertainment had a publishing deal with 3D Realms, it was not a funding arrangement. Take-Two still has publishing rights to the game if it is ever picked up again and finished, but at this time it looks like Duke Nukem Forever will never see the light of day. Yes 3D Realms hasnt really put anything out there in a while, but this was one of the original big wigs of the gaming industry. It is a sad day indeed to see yet another studio close its doors…
