Hey all,

I'm just making this topic for the sake of old Mario games (Specifically from his NES solo debut to the N64 years.) Being an old gamer fan of just about every video game staple out there, this does include Link, Sonic, Kirby, and many others, I have quite a few fond memories of my gamer years. Many of which involved Mario and Sonic games, but this is for Nintendo's top icon. Not SEGA's.

Based on few attempts to completion, the game Super Mario Bros. has been the most challenging of all the Mario games, in my opinion. Not sure why. Possibly it's because certain worlds containing the flying creature, I believe its name is Lakitu, that just flat out drops a Spiney in your jumping path toward a 1-Up or even a FireFlower. Or it could be because Bullet Bills suck. They suck big time. (That's what she said)

Although, when it came time for me to just put down the controller, wipe the sweat off my face, and take some Advil (Insert shiney teeth ding and thumbs up here) to alleviate my headache, I felt somewhat accomplished despite the blisters on my perspiring palms.

Now I'm rambling, I'd like to hear what you have to say about our International Plumber Phenomenon. Good or bad, it's always nice to hear other people's input on different topics.

God bless,

Mario has always been one of my favorite video game characters. I agree that the older mario games are definatly the best. Two games stand out but my favorite had to be Super Mario World for the snes, with the other being Super Mario 3. I remember countless times where Chris and I would call each other up on the phone, put it on speaker, and race eachother to see who could finish levels the fastest. Ah the good old days…

The worst Mario in my opinion has to be Super Mario 2. UGH I hated that game. Something about it just didnt feel right. Sure the ability to be a few other characters was fun, but some levels seemed like they were impossible if you weren't using certain characters. Wowza all this Mario talk makes me want to digg out ol un-reliable (the nes) and play some Mario.

Hehehe… Super Mario Bros. 2, I feel the same way about. In my sight, the only real positive was the music. The music was uplifting when on ground level, adventurous when underground, and even fight worthy when facing a boss… At least for its time.

Another thing I never really quite understood about this game was the whole "Potion" action. I mean, you pull up a Potion. You throw it. Poof! A door. You go through it, and ONLY IF YOU ARE NEAR OTHER PLANTS you will be able to pluck out some coins that, from what I could see, did almost nothing.

In spite of the fact that Super Mario Bros. 2 was not the next 1-Up from the first game, Super Mario Bros. 3 definitely made up for many miles of lost ground. Something about the Tanooki and Hammer Bros. Suit makes me so happy to have witnessed Mario at his cuddliest and deadliest. Although, the Game Genie was my #1 go-to accessory whenever I felt like some more thrills throughout my ingame experience. Something about the "SKYWALKER" cheat made me so glad I didn't have to run back a few inches and then forward even fewer inches just to get 3 seconds of flight. The 3 seconds are pretty much all you really need, but to me, it's not enough. Good ol' days, indeed…

You say you had races over speaker phone? Who received the most victories, I wonder?

Chris always seemed to edge me out in the races. His victory music would always start a split second before mine did. It was always close, but Chris was deemed the champion of Super Mario World. Thats right people, contrary to popular belief, I do lose at video games.

Wow, that is a real shocker.

Time to start a rant over Super Mario World.

Cheerful, beautiful, and enjoyable all describe Super Mario World in all its vast area of play. In my part, this is the most catchiest Mario games out there and what I mean by "catchiest" is that it just makes you want to play more. The Yoshi addition was an excellent one for quite a few reasons. Examples being: Faster level travel, swifter movements, an extra strike before going back to regular Mario, and, let's face it, it's funny to watch Yoshi run off in fear after getting hit.

Being aware of the tandems of updates for this game, there are strange differences in each of the updates. As I recall, the GameBoy Advance version of this game had some strange…. Strangenesses about it. Not too sure what it was, a little too hard to identify, but I do know that it wasn't the real one. The real Super Mario World had visions of pixels whenever Mario died, it had very pleasing music (Quite frankly, all is at peace when the Ghost Mansion song plays.) It even made a pretty decent T.V. show to make a YouTube Poop out of.

Back on track, this game is the only game that I have multiple copies of for whatever reason. I can tell which one has all the good files because it has some kind of lipstick smuthered all over the back of it… Surprised it can still run… Anyway, the bosses in this game were a real challenge compaired to the other Mario games, in my blunt opinion. Strange representations, nice surroundings, and amusing levels.

I seriously have a problem. What are your thoughts on this game?

God bless,
