HOLY DAMN! This movie was amazing! Sure some cg sequences were a bit…. Meh for a movie with a budget of $150 million, but still! If you have not seen this movie, I suggest you leave work now and go see it. What are your thoughts on the movie?

Whaaaat???  You really liked this movie?

***********SPOILERS MOST LIKELY AHEAD*****************************

Well Hugh Jackman did a great job as Wolverine, no surprise there, we've seen it already.  That being said, what was with re-casting a Sabretooth?  That's going to confuse the eff outta fans.  That Sabretooth and the Sabretooth from X-Men 1 look ENTIRELY different.  There were so many characters that just seemed randomly thrown in to appease the fans, but I wasn't appeased because they severely hurt each character.  Cyclops?  Sure, I guess he works.  Gambit?  Wtf, randomly thrown in, he doesn't play a big part and so warmly accepts Logan and helps him out.  Not true to the comics/cartoon/whatever, since Gambit was a real rogue and a jerk.  The Blob, tossed in there for laughs, but I actually appreciated that.  Emma Frost?  Wtf, another effing random character thrown in there.

But the worst atrocity of it all, the horrid translation from comic to movie… Deadpool.  At first, when I read about this movie, I read "Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool."  I immediately thought, "Oh hell yes."  What a casting call, and a nice job on Marvel's part.  Now, leave it to Marvel to destroy the legacy of the character.  First of all, Deadpool, or Wade as Origins calls him, was part of the same program Logan was in.  However, he's always looked messed up and never like a pretty boy.  The end of the movie got him right though.  He should look twisted and maimed.  But he's a comedic relief character, NOT a villain.  He was never evil or bad, he was just hilarious and stupid all the way through.  To make a walking joke the main villain is a terrible call.  Now, let's further destroy his character.  Give him every mutant power… Ugh.  Cyclop beams, regeneration (though, he has this in the comic), teleportation, and… swords that come out of his wrists… Lame.

But enough of the specific nitty-gritty about the comics.  The movie itself was average, I guess.  To an un-informed watcher, the characters would probably seem fine, though they were all pretty devoid of a backstory.  The action was intense, the CGI scenes were really good (Except for Sabretooths running animation… god)  All in all, it was a bad translation from comic to movie, but if you could give a care less about comics, than you'll probably like it.  Though, my personal opinion, X-Men 1-3 were at least 10 times better than this movie.

Ok I do agree with a bunch of your points here. But I look at this as a different movie entirely from the rest of the series. Heck we all know that X3 was a big piece of crap, there is no doubt about it and it pretty much killed the X-Men series off. Wolverine I believe was a great origin story like it was meant to be. The re-casting of Sabertooth was a blessing for this series. The Sabertooth in X1 was more true to the comics, but at the same time had no personality and little to no relevance in the series. This Sabertooth is more memorable, a heck of a lot better acted, and a real character.

The random characters being thrown in was a definite cluster(Bleep), as they has no relevance in the movie and were, as you said, just thrown in there for the fans. Here is my big gripe with this section… Wolverine gets amnesia right? He meets up with Cyclops, Storm, and a host of other mutants later on when he joins the X-Men right? Well why the hell didn't any of them go "Hey man, thanks for saving us from that island years ago. How about we fill you in on some things….." Sure Cyclops was blind-folded, but storm wasn't!!! She saw the whole thing. And what about all the other mutants in those cages? They saw exactly what happened. This is where the movie started its downturn. Continuity went to hell here.

Lastly I have to disagree and agree with you on the Deadpool thing. When I heard Ryan Reynolds was going to be Deadpool….. I died a little inside. I figured if he didnt talk then maybe it would work. But all that aside, what they did to Deadpool at the climax of the movie was utter crap! They pretty much turned him into Baraka from Mortal Kombat! He has blades that come out of his arms and he looks like he was a burn victim. Then they gave him all the mutants powers….. UGH!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When he gets his head cut off at the end by Wolverine, I was extremely happy because I figured that was the end of a crappy character and I wouldn't have to deal with him ever again…. Then we saw after the credits that he is still alive and reaches out for his own head…. WTF!!??!!?? He doesn't have a head!!! His brain cant tell the rest of his body to breath or to move or anything! Total crap.

While I agree it was a bad translation from comic to movie, I feel it was a fun ride that even a comic purist could sit through and be entertained. Sure they didn't give enough time to Gambit, and they totally f'd up Deadpool; but the rest of the movie was very entertaining. Except for the uber crappy CGI backgrounds…. The movie cost $150 million to make, couldn't they spend another two million and take the time to make the CGI better???

*****SPOILLLAAAARZ**********

Yeah, I agree the after the credits ending was fairly lame.  I mean, sure, Deadpool has massive regeneration, and stupidly enough, even when his head is blown off in the comics, he can still live.  And his body will reform.  So I guess that makes sense.  But, yes, they crushed him.  And honestly the only reason I was happy for Ryan Reynolds cause I saw him in the movie "Waiting" and I enjoyed that actually.  I heard he did some lame chick flicks and that he's kind of a Dane Cook wanna-be… but eh.

But yes, I believe comic purists can definitely sit down and enjoy this movie for what it is.  I mean, no comic book movie can be absolutely 10000000% correct, and I think the closest they've ever gotten was either the Watchmen or Sin City.
