So I decided to download the demo for Hawx and give it a go. Now being a fan of all things flight simulator, I figured I would love this game. But I was wrong.

Hawx looks like your usual flight sim fighter game like Ace Combat. But there are a few differences that will keep me away from this game. The first being the controls feel loose and no matter how much I changed the sensitivity, I could not get used to it. Second is the utter useless "assist off" mode. Which is basically a 3rd person view but you are following being the plane from a weird angle and everything is insanely tiny. Targeting is almost impossible and trying to maneuver is insane.

Now what do I like? The graphics are very crisp and they use the same photo-realistic terrain as Ace Combat 6 did. The planes are really sweet looking and the changeable layouts are very nice. But yet again the same as ace combat. Its really hard to pinpoint things I like about the game seeing I feel its the same thing as Ace Combat, and sadly for Hawx, I feel Ace Combat does it all 10x better.

I do plan on renting this because I am a sucker for Flight sim fighters. And who knows, maybe I will actually like it. And if I do, I will come back and change my impressions. But until then, its a rent and not a buy.
